At Smile Arch, we always aim to preserve your natural teeth — but when a tooth is too damaged or causing problems, an extraction may be the healthiest option.
Happy Clients
After removal, we’ll guide you on replacement options like implants, bridges, or dentures.
Your dentist will numb the area with local anaesthetic so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure — only some pressure. After the extraction, mild discomfort is normal and can be managed with pain relief and aftercare instructions.
Most people start to feel better after 24–48 hours, but it can take up to a week for the gum to heal fully. Healing time may be longer for wisdom teeth or surgical extractions.
Follow your dentist’s aftercare instructions carefully. Avoid smoking, drinking through a straw, or vigorous rinsing for the first 24 hours, as these can dislodge the blood clot and cause dry socket.
Mild pain and slight bleeding are normal for the first day. Bite on gauze as instructed and take pain relief if needed. If bleeding is heavy or pain worsens after 2–3 days, contact your dentist right away.
